Now, what is the recipe for....

If I had a nickel for every time I have called Grandma or Momma and asked for a recipe I would be a rich woman! I have written the recipes down countless times and still have to call sometimes to ask again. Food is such a big part of family gatherings that I consider recipes to be family heirlooms. I believe it is time to preserve a little family history in a way that will make it easier to share them with children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and (someday) great greats! So, dear family, please hunt down those recipes, make a batch of potato rolls, chocolate pie, or cole slaw, take a picture, if there is a story behind the recipe then write it down, email or mail the recipes to me and we'll get them preserved for posterity!

Bibo's Potato Rolls

Ingredients:
1 package (tablespoon) dry yeast dissolved in 1/2 cup warm water
2/3 cup shortening
1 t salt
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup mashed potatos
1 cup potato water or milk (use potato water!!!)
1 egg
6 cups of flour

Cream together the sugar, shortening, and salt. Add egg and potatos. Add all the other liquids. Finally, add the flour and knead until well mixed. Place in a buttered bowl and cover with plastic wrap. Leave this to rise in the refrigerator over night. Take out of the refrigerator two hours before baking. Roll out the rolls, cut, dip in melted butter, and let rise for one hour. Bake at 350 degrees 15 minutes or until they are light brown on the bottom and done.
